Former Liverpool star explains how Erik ten Hag may be sacked at Man UtdDAZN
Ten Hag is having a tough second season.

Manchester United could soon sack Erik ten Hag, according to Bolo Zenden.

Zenden played for PSV, Barcelona and Marseille, as well as English sides Chelsea, Liverpool, Middlesbrough and Sunderland, and was also assistant manager at Stamford Bridge.

In his time in football he has seen many managers come and go as they come under fire and leave their positions.

His countryman Ten Hag is undergoing a difficult spell at Manchester United after struggling to build on a decent first season at Old Trafford.

There are reports that new co-owner Jim Ratcliffe is going to overhaul the football operations side of the club, and that has led to speculation that a change over manager could come if results do not improve soon.

Speaking to TG Casino, Zenden said he understood that pressures will mount on Ten Hag, but urged the club show patience with the Dutchman.

He began: “I think any manager at a club like Man United is on thin ice as soon as the results change. Ten Hag had difficulty in his first season as there were so many changes in both the squad and the club.

“When there's trouble at the top, it trickles down into the club. When the takeover situation goes away, it'll make it easier to steer the boat. We've seen it at Chelsea and Ajax before. When the roof leaks, the water comes down to the dressing room.

”It's not easy, and results are the only thing that can help you. It's the same for Ten Hag. The ice will get thinner if he doesn't get results, and the club will look for change. I said I hoped Pochettino would stay at Chelsea, but it's hard without results, especially if the owners don't trust the process.

“A good example of this is Arsenal and Arteta - they were off the pace for two years, but they've been challenging for the title over the last two seasons because they stuck with the manager. As I said before, the only thing that will keep a manager in a job is results.''
