Former Manchester City and Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna would rather play against Marcus Rashford than Alejandro Garnacho.
The Frenchman believes that Rashford’s experience means he is a trickier opponent than the young Argentine.
That might come as a surprise to many, with Garnacho seen as the most promising United player in years, alongside midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
The same description once applied to Rashford, but this season the 26-year-old forward has struggled to match his form last season, when he notched a career-best 30 goals in a single campaign.
Speaking to Paddy Power, he explained his decision, saying: “Alejandro Garnacho is still so young, and he has a lot of talent, but there’s so much more to come. The more he plays the better he will be and the more professional he’ll become.“I still see him as a youth player but he’s not anymore. When he starts developing his ability to be consistent in a game, and be decisive in almost every game, like Cristiano Ronaldo was, that’ll be good.
“He’s still a kid, so as a defender, I would rather play against him than Marcus Rashford. If I played against Garnacho I would try to be physical with him and win the physical battle first. He has talent and you don’t want to give him too much room.”
