Moyes is under pressure from some at West Ham.

Rio Ferdinand hit out at critics of David Moyes given the achievements of the West Ham manager in the last couple of years.

Before West Ham’s match on Sunday against Sheffield United, the Londoners sat sixth in the Premier League, and are the current Europa League champions.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Ferdinand questioned why supporters would even consider switching managers.

He said: “I mean, I can’t believe it. I need to speak to the West Ham fans, what I’d like to know is what are you really expecting?

“What are you asking for from David Moyes? I’ve seen disgruntled people with David Moyes, asking should he be changed.

“When you look at it, he won a European competition last year, they’ve spent £100 million from Declan Rice exquisitely well, fantastically well. They’re all playing in the team and doing well, and they’re sixth in the league.

“You have to be realistic sometimes and I just think it’s disrespectful to be asking about David Moyes because I think he’s done a fabulous job here, and I think you can’t ask to have it all, and you have to be understanding of where West Ham are as a football club.

“The position they’re in right now, I think he’s doing a fabulous job and I think to be questioning, it’s ridiculous. Considering where they’ve been at times, they’ve been in the Championship, they’ve been languishing some times in the Premier League, but they’re in a really healthy state at the moment.

“I think sometimes you’ve got to sit back and say, ’Be careful what you wish for’.”
