Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has warned the Evan Ferguson would be a risky signing for both club and player.
The Brighton youngster is regularly linked to the big Premier League sides and United are believed to have a longstanding interest in the forward.
With Rasmus Hojlund appearing now to come good at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag might choose to go for a younger player to provide back-up, rather than a senior striker as had previously been rumoured.
However, with many players struggling to make their mark at the club in recent years, such as younger players like Antony and Jadon Sancho - amongst others - treble-winner Yorke told Instant Casinos that any move would pose a risk.
He said: “Evan Ferguson to United? Manchester United are such a big club, there are very few players at Ferguson’s age who play to the expectations of the club.
“We’ve seen that with Marcus Rashford. It took Rasmus Hojlund some time to find his feet.
“These young players are good for the future of the team but they need to play an important role when it comes to the business end of the season.”
