The Argentine scored a wonderful goal at the weekend.

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov believes that Alejandro Garnacho should not “betray that trust” given to him by manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag started the young Argentine winger against Everton and he kickstarted a 3-0 win at Goodison Park on Sunday with an outstanding overhead kick after just three minutes.

The Dutchman has had a difficult time with finding wide players who can perform consistently, with Antony, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho also struggling to make a positive impact.

Speaking to Betfair, Berbatov discussed the overhead kick and the potential of Garnacho to kick on at Old Trafford.

He said: “I saw some people comparing my overhead kick against Liverpool, but the best? For sure, Garnacho vs Everton.

“It was a pure strike of the ball. It was magnificent to watch.

“[Cristiano] Ronaldo with Juventus, [Gareth] Bale with Real Madrid and Wayne Rooney with Man United all did it.

“When you see clips of bicycle goals online, you see players you’ve never seen before. That’s why I say it’s great, but build a legacy and have many more memories like this one.

“The manager trusts him and he needs to take that trust, work and try not to betray that trust.

“The weeks, months and years after this goal, he’ll check it out, his friends will check it out, people will send it to him. He’ll be everywhere. That’s why I say it’s good to reminisce, but as soon as you stop watching it, now it’s time to get back to reality because it’s the next game, it’s the next goal, it’s the next assist, it’s the next win.

“This will give you confidence, but continue to work and build on this because people will want to see more of that. That’s why Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi were so great, because when they did something great, they were able to keep that consistency of doing great things for so many years.”
