Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha says the club need "one or two more players" to challenge for the Premier League title.
Saha played for the Red Devils between 2004 and 2008, scoring 28 goals during his time at Old Trafford.
United finished eighth in the Premier League last season, 22 points behind Liverpool in third and a further nine behind winners Manchester City.
But Saha says they are not far off a title challenge, as players returning from injury will provide a big boost.
Speaking to CSDB.gg, Saha said: "If Manchester United want to be competing at the top of the table then they need to sign one or two more players including an attacking midfielder.
"One positive is that Mason Mount could be like a new signing.
"If Mount can show up with a different kind of vibe and have confidence, he will take more risks on the pitch which is what his creative position requires.
"In the midfield there needs to be competition because you can use five substitutes.
"You need players who are desperate to get on the pitch and almost feel like sitting on the bench is a punishment."
United begin their Premier League campaign against Fulham on Friday, August 16.
