England will enter a new era after the resignation of Gareth Southgate this week.
Southgate stepped down as manager of the national team following the Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain, and the FA will now lead a search for his replacement.
One of the first tasks for the next man in charge will be what to do with England's attack after it failed to fire on all cylinders during the tournament in Germany.
Harry Kane remains the Three Lions' skipper, but questions will be asked about what role he'll have going forward following his performances this summer.
Speaking exclusively to DAZN, via the home of the Online Casino, former striker Brian Deane believes Kane still has an international future but he may find himself used differently by the next manager.
"I don’t think Kane has anything left to prove at international level, and I think it’s becoming a younger man’s sport now," said Deane.
"It was there for everyone to see that what England needed was someone that was willing to run in behind and stretch the pitch. We’re very good in every department, but if you’re not gonna stretch the pitch and get defenders running back towards their own goal, then it makes it very difficult for the side to actually come up through the thirds and away from their own goal, which is the danger.
"I can understand why he did start Kane, and he’s the captain of the team, but as soon as he started dropping so deep it became so hard for the team – because when they would win the ball back and they looked up, there was nobody to hit and they then have to try and keep the ball until they can get somebody up there. Playing against Spain who press high in the first seconds, then you literally can’t get out.
"I think Kane might have had more of an impact if we had started with Toney or Watkins, and if he came on fresh and with his experience, then he would have been able to exploit the gaps that defenders would have created by dropping deeper, with the game stretched, tired defenders losing their concentration. And you can make a contribution when you’re fresh and they’re not."
