The veteran will leave at the end of the season.

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has announced he will leave the club at the end of the season.

Varane joined United from Real Madrid in August 2021 for an initial fee of £34m, but injuries have impacted his time with the Premier League giants.

The former France defender has not managed to reach 60 league games for the club across three seasons, but was a key part of last season's Carabao Cup winning campaign.

In a message to fans on X , Varane said: "To you guys, supporters of Manchester United, it has been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wear that shirt.

"The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Man United player was insane. The atmosphere was amazing.

"I fell in love with the club, with the fans. You have to play for Manchester United to understand what that represents.

"For my kids, it's home here. It is going to be a special place for me for life.

"I will see you at Old Trafford to say goodbye in the last home game this season. And it's going to be a very emotional day for me, for sure."

Varane's final game at Old Trafford will be against Newcastle United on Wednesday, as United try to secure European football next season.
