After a summer of uncertainty, David de Gea has announced that he will leave Manchester United after spending 12 years at the club.

Despite winning the Premier League Golden Glove award last season, De Gea's performances have been mixed and manager Erik ten Hag has decided that now is the right time to make a change between the sticks.

Taking Twitter, De Gea posted a farewell message to the club's fans to confirm the news of his departure.

"I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters," De Gea wrote.

"I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years. We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club. I took incredible pride everytime I pulled on this shirt, to lead the team, to represent this institution, the biggest club in the world was an honour only bestows upon a few lucky footballers.

"It’s been an unforgettable and successful period since I came here. I didn’t think from leaving Madrid as a young boy we would achieve what we did together.

"Now, it’s the right time to undertake a new challenge, to push myself again in new surroundings.

"Manchester will always be in my heart, Manchester has shaped me and will never leave me.

"We’ve seen it all."

Now De Gea will be on the search for a new club, DAZN takes a look at some of the options available to the Spaniard.

Al Nassr

As ever when there is a big name player on the market, there is inevitably a link with Saudi Arabia and this is no different for David de Gea.

In recent days De Gea has been linked with Al Nassr and is being offered a €250,000 per week contract, and if he does decide to take up this offer, he would be reuniting with former United teammate Cristiano Ronaldo who joined the Saudi outfit at the start of 2023.

Sevilla

After joining Manchester United from Atletico Madrid in June 2011, a move back to his native Spain is maybe what David de Gea is hoping to secure over the next few weeks.

One club that has been linked with the shot stopper is Sevilla and there are plenty of reasons as to why it could be a could move for De Gea.

Sevilla have a passionate fanbase and the arrival of a high quality player like De Gea would see them get behind him which will be a positive change of atmosphere after United fans began to turn on the 32-year-old over the last few seasons.

There is also the chance for De Gea to play in the Champions League after Sevilla won last season's Europa League, but there is one catch.

While Sevilla could be the perfect fit for De Gea, his desired salary could be an issue and with Sevilla not having a huge pot of funds, it may prove difficult to bring in an established name like De Gea.

Real Betis

Sevilla's city rivals, Real Betis, are also linked with David de Gea, but they will have similar issues if they look to make a deal.

In addition to financial issues, the fact that Betis will be playing in the Europa League next season may not be where De Gea wants in terms of playing time if he still believes that he is one of the world's best goalkeepers.

Fenerbahce

Turkey has often become a destination for ex-Premier League stars and David de Gea could be the latest player from England's top flight to make the move.

Just like Sevilla and Real Betis, Fenerbahce has a passionate fanbase which will welcome De Gea with open arms and after finishing second in the Turkish league last season, De Gea can expect to be challenging for top honours if he decides to join.

However, with Fenerbahce having to qualify for next season's Europa League, he may find that European success may not be easy to come by.
