MANCHESTER CITY V CHELSEA – CARABAO CUP – 20:00 – NOVEMBER 9

League Cup action returns this week and Wednesday sees an all-Premier League clash between Manchester City and Chelsea.

City were on for a fifth consecutive Carabao Cup trophy before bowing out to West Ham in a fourth-round penalty shootout last year, while the visitors made it to the final before suffering a similar fate against Liverpool.

Chelsea's top four ambitions mean they'll likely rest some of their regular first team players ahead of their trip to Newcastle, and although City's priority will be the league, they're rarely short of attacking options with whatever squad Guardiola chooses to field.

Considering Man City haven’t lost a home tie in this competition since 2014, it’s hard to look past them easing their way into the last 16 against what could be a slightly more experimental Chelsea side.

Traders’ Tip: Manchester City -1.5 @ 5/4. A £10 bet at these odds could return £22.50

MANCHESTER UNITED V ASTON VILLA – CARABAO CUP – 20:00 – NOVEMBER 10

Thursday sees Manchester United host Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup, and it’s likely to be another chance for Erik ten Hag to gauge the depth of his squad.

Plenty of focus will likely be on Man United teenager Garnacho. The Argentine winger scored his first professional goal against Sociedad last week, and will be hoping to carry that momentum forward if he gets the expected start against Villa.

Unai Emery might have a difficult task ahead if he wants to keep Villa away from danger in the Premier League. Despite their win at the weekend, there’s a fair bit of work to do if they want to avoid a relegation dogfight, and even a relatively strong line-up might struggle midweek at Old Trafford.

Man United should have enough depth in their squad to progress to the next round of the competition, especially as this may also be a final chance for a number of their players to get some decent game time before departing for Qatar.

Traders’ Tip: Manchester United to win & Over 1.5 @ 9/10. A £10 bet at these odds could return £19

NEWCASTLE UNITED V CHELSEA – PREMIER LEAGUE – 17:30 – NOVEMBER 12

Newcastle will be aiming to keep their increasingly realistic Champions League prospects alive when Chelsea visit St James’ Park on Saturday.

The hosts have lost just once in their last 17 home Premier League fixtures, and Eddie Howe seems to have instilled a real belief in the squad that they can secure a spot inside the top four.

Chelsea looked to be heading along the right path under Potter, but their 4-1 defeat at Brighton was a stern reminder that the issues that ultimately led to the downfall of Thomas Tuchel still exist inside the Chelsea camp.

The visitors will need to be at their best to get anything out of this game, but given how solid Newcastle have been at St James’ Park in 2022, the hosts have every chance of taking that same momentum into the World Cup break.

The last six encounters between these two teams have seen only one side scoring, so we fancy Newcastle to win this one without conceding.

Traders’ Tip: Newcastle to win to Nil @ 16/5. A £10 bet at these odds could return £42

FULHAM V MANCHESTER UNITED – PREMIER LEAGUE – 16:30 – NOVEMBER 13

The last Premier League fixture before the World Cup sees Fulham host Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Fulham have adapted well to life back in the top tier and a lot of that can be credited to the impressive form of Alexandar Mitrovic and his six goals in his seven appearances at Craven Cottage this season.

United have scored in each of their last six visits to Fulham, and if you pair that with the form of the hosts’ Serbian striker, we should hopefully see a decent number of goals here before all eyes divert to Qatar.

Traders’ Tip: Over 3.5 Goals @ 7/5. A £10 bet at these odds could return £24
