While the summer transfer window slammed shut nearly a month ago, Glen Johnson still has some ideas about who the Reds should pursue in the near future.
With reports circulating that the club are looking to sign a central defender and a defensive midfielder, Johnson identified which players he'd prefer to fill those spots for his former side.
“At centre-back, I’d say Marc Guehi," Johnson told Betfred. "He’d cope fine being the left-sided centre-half and the fact that he didn’t move in the summer proves that he’s still available.
"I think he’d bite your arm off at the opportunity to sign for Liverpool and I believe it would be a great deal.”
As for the other position the Reds are reported to be interested in strengthening, Johnson named a player that has just signed in France.
“In regards to a defensive midfielder, I was hoping they would have signed Adrien Rabiot when he was a free agent.
"That’s not very likely anymore because he’s joined Marseille, but I think they’ve missed out on a good player that was a free agent. Those deals don’t come around often for experienced players at his level.”
