Tottenham Hotspur are enjoying a run of good form in the Premier League, going five games without a loss.
Their most recent match was a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Brighton that put them into fourth place in the standings.
Spurs' uptick in recent results has them move just seven points back of league-leading Liverpool, with Manchester City and Arsenal occupying second and third place, respectively.
With 14 matches still left to play, there is plenty of time for the North London side to mount a challenge for the title. However, one former Premier League manager doesn't believe Spurs will be able to seriously bother the three front-runners in the title race.
Speaking to Lord Ping, Strachan outlined the simple reason why he thinks Tottenham aren't legitimate contenders for the league crown — and it has little to do with Spurs themselves.
"Do I think Tottenham will win the title? I don’t think they will," Strachan said.
"I think this could be too much for this Tottenham side this season and I can’t see Manchester City, Liverpool or Arsenal losing too many more games between now and the end of the season.
"It will be hard for Tottenham to bridge that gap."
While Strachan can't see Tottenham winning the title this season, he does believe that manager Ange Postecoglou has Spurs playing a style that resonates with fans outside of North London.
"For the neutrals, I’m sure that they would love Ange’s team to win the title," he said.
"We’re seeing some really nice football in the Premier League this season; Arsenal are starting to look back to their best. Liverpool have been excellent, and Manchester City do what they do.
"That’s the beauty of the Premier League at the moment."
