Gordon Strachan wasn't overly impressed with Manchester United's 1-0 season-opening victory over Fulham, calling the performance "ordinary" and predicting a tougher time for Erik ten Hag and the Red Devils in their next outing against Brighton on Saturday.
Strachan admitted that the three points were "huge" for Ten Hag, who continues to come under close scrutiny after leading the club to their worst-ever finish in the Premier League era last season. However, Strachan believes Ten Hag will need to inspire better performances from his side in the near future if he is to remain off the hot seat.
"We didn’t come away from that and think that Manchester United were great to watch [against Fulham]," Strachan told Lord Ping. "It was ordinary stuff, a lot like last season.
"For your opening game of the season, you want to see something you like. I don’t think that’s happening at Old Trafford now and hasn’t for a long time.
"We haven’t seen the whole package from Manchester United under Erik ten Hag. We haven’t seen a complete performance for 90 minutes - that’s something that he absolutely needs to address this season."
