Former boss hails weekend's best.

The Premier League is back in full flow after the second matchday of the season.

There were several standout performances across the weekend, and Harry Redknapp has pinpointed several names that impressed him during this week's matchday.

The former Premier League boss singled out the displays as he picked his team of the week while speaking to BetVictor, but he reserved special praise for one player and manager.

Following another hat-trick in Manchester City's 4-1 win over Ipswich, Redknapp was in no doubt who the star man was.

"My star performer can only be the one man though, Erling Haaland," he said.

"Yet another hat-trick for this goal machine! He’s started the season in brilliant form, he seems so sharp, so motivated for the season ahead. He won’t like me saying this, but he might get some benefit from not going to the Euros this summer, he looks so much sharper than some of the lads that played in that tournament. What a player."

As well as the Norwegian, Redknapp also gave the nod to the new Chelsea boss, who led the Blues to a rampant victory over Wolves on Sunday.

Adding: "He had a few critics last week but what a response from Enzo Maresca. I don’t care who you’re managing or playing against, scoring six away from home is always impressive.

"There are signs here of what he’s trying to do and this should give the whole club a real boost."
