Three days after winning the Carabao Cup, Liverpool put in a dominant performance to advance to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The Reds ran out 3-0 winners over visiting Southampton at Anfield on Wednesday, with a first-half goal by Lewis Koumas and a second-half brace by Jayden Danns propelling them to victory.

Liverpool have been a well-oiled machine this season, as they top the Premier League standings and are still alive in the FA Cup and Europa League. With the Carabao Cup celebrations having just died down, midfielder Harvey Elliott said it would have been easy for his side to come out flat on Wednesday.

"It has been unbelievable," Elliott told ITV. "We can easily get carried away in the circumstances [of the Carabao Cup final]. It was an emotional day and amazing.

"It would have been easy to come here tonight and forget the job that we needed to do."

A big part of the Reds' being able to continue their winning ways was 18-year-old Danns, whose two late goals put the match out of reach. Elliott was full of praise for his fellow youngster, who only made his Premier League debut last week.

"Ever since this man [Danns] came on this season he's been amazing," Elliott said.
