Dwight Yorke knows a thing or two about scoring goals for Manchester United.
The former Trinidad and Tobago international was a key part of United's treble-winning 1998-99 season, winning the Premier League's Golden Boot award as top scorer during that memorable campaign.
He tallied over 200 goals for club and country during his career, so if anyone is qualified to comment on the legitimacy of new Red Devils forward Rasmus Hojlund, it's Yorke.
And Yorke is a fan of the 20-year-old, despite not being familiar with Hojlund's abilities prior to the Dane's move from Atalanta to Old Trafford over the summer.
"I have to be totally brutal and say I don't know much about Hojlund as he's never been on the radar and he's come out of nowhere," Yorke told Stocklytics. "Nobody was searching him until he arrived!
"He certainly has potential, I get that, and him playing at this level already was something I couldn't see happening. The fact he's got three goals to his name is a real positive and I like what I've seen so far.
"He's better than what United had last year, and I'd certainly take him over what was on offer last year."
Despite singing Hojlund's praises, Yorke knows the Denmark international still has a ways to go to fully realise his potential. However, Yorke says the foundation is there for Hojlund to succeed — even if there haven't yet been any "wow" moments from the first-year Red Devil.
"He'll find it difficult in this league, particularly as he's doing it in a side who aren't playing particularly well," Yorke said. "His goal tally will encourage him and I'm sure that'll have the same effect on the United fans.
"I wouldn't say he was someone who excited me off my seat and got me saying, 'Wow, this kid is amazing'. It'll take time and he's still relatively young at 20.
"He's still learning his trade and it'll take time to get to the next level. He's done extremely well so far, though."
