Much has been made of England's performances at Euro 2024, with some accusing the players of succumbing to the pressure of representing their country at a major tournament.
Gareth Southgate's side has underperformed in Germany but has still found a way to win and find themselves in the competition's last four.
Someone who knows all about the pressure of representing the Three Lions in Jermain Defoe and speaking on William Hill’s podcast, Up Front with Simon Jordan, the former striker described what it was like, as well as quashing any concerns around the England captain and his performances.
“Playing for England is a different sort of pressure,” he said.
“But it’s a good pressure. If you’re playing for England, you’re one of the chosen ones. How many people would love to be in that position, representing England at a major tournament? You have to enjoy the moment because it’s what dreams are made of.
“Harry Kane is someone who I think will enjoy the pressure. There was a lot of noise about resting or dropping him, but you can’t. He can win you the game at any moment.”
