New Anfield boss will want to add to squad.

Arne Slot arrived at Anfield this week, and thoughts have immediately turned to who he'll target as he looks to create his Liverpool team this summer.

The club have already been linked with a number of players since the end of the season, including Bayer Leverkusen title winner Jeremie Frimpong.

Former Reds defender Jose Enrique thinks the Dutch full-back would be a welcome addition to the Liverpool side, but believes the club and their new manager should also hone in on another key area that needs strengthing.

"Jeremie Frimpong would be a great signing,” he told Grosvenor Sport

“Last season he was outstanding for Bayer Leverkusen. He is more of an attacking full-back like Trent Alexander-Arnold – in Leverkusen, he played with three at the back, and it gave him that freedom to be offensive, often taking up the position of right-wing or sometimes even a striker.

“I’m not sure if Arne Slot will play with a system that suits his qualities, and it's hard to say now when we don’t know what the system will be. I really like him as a player and I think he can make the next step up, maybe to a club like Liverpool, but it would depend on what Slot wants from him.

“I will say that Liverpool need a new defensive midfielder, they may need to look a new right back depending on if Trent is going to step into midfield. For me, they need a new right winger – I know you have Harvey Elliott who could play out there, but he’s better in the 8 position in my opinion. They need a new defensive midfielder as a priority, I would say.”
