Jermaine Pennant thinks he knows which job Jurgen Klopp wants next, and believes it could have contributed to his decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
The German manager announced on Friday that he would be leaving at Anfield at the end of the season, despite the club being poised to finish the season potentially as Premier League champions once more.
Pennant, a former Liverpool winger, thinks that Klopp may be looking towards a job at Real Madrid, despite Carlo Ancelotti signing a deal that will keep him at the club until 2026.
Speaking to Lord Ping , he said: “There are only two reasons I can think of. It could be a personal issue, where he’s letting them know now instead of at the end of the season, so they can find a replacement. But that’s just speculation.
“Or there is a massive opportunity to go to Real Madrid. If he’s going to manage them for a long period, I think 100% he’s got Real Madrid in his sights. We know how demanding the Premier League is and it’s just as much for the management and coaching staff. The Premier League is the hardest, most taxing league in Europe. He’s come out and said he can’t give much more. Meaning he’s getting down to his bare bones.
“I don’t think there’s a risk we won’t see him manage again but you won’t see manage one of the top clubs in the Premier League.
“Real Madrid have [Kylian] Mbappe going there, they have [Jude] Bellingham, so it could be Real Madrid.”
