Manchester United have already been proactive in this summer's transfer market as they look to build on last season's FA Cup triumph.
The club has recruited highly-rated teenager Leny Yoro from Lille and bolstered its forward line with the capture of Dutch international forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.
However, speaking exclusively to DAZN, courtesy of Free Bets, former midfielder Kleberson has pinpointed the area where he thinks United still need to strengthen ahead of the new campaign.
He said: "When I've been watching them in pre-season, there seems to be a huge improvement in the players from last year already.
"One position I do think they need strengthening in thought is the midfield. They need someone who can take control of the game - ideally a Paul Scholes type player. But it's hard to find players like that. You really need to produce them.
"A Paul Scholes player for me is what United really need, but I'm aware to find someone like that is not easy."
Yet, the World Cup winner doesn't think it will be a player that will be key to their success this season, instead, the Brazilian has high hopes for United's new coaching set-up, especially a returning hero of the past.
Adding: "My pick for key man won't actually be the players but the staff and coaches. Ruud Van Nistlerooy will be the key man for this season.
"He was an amazing player for United, was extremely hungry for success and now he's on the other side, the players will be on the receiving end of something really powerful.
"That's why I think the key for United will be him."
