The teams' only previous meetings also came at this stage of the competition in 2020-21, when Bayern won both legs en route to a 6-2 aggregate victory.
The German giants could use another dominant pair of matches now as they have struggled to keep pace with league-leading Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and looked second-best all over the pitch when those teams met over the weekend.
As for Lazio, they are unencumbered by a domestic title race as they are eighth in Serie A and well off the pace of the front-runners, so these matches should have their full attention.
