Former Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe questioned whether Jadon Sancho could handle the pressure of playing at Euro 2024.
Sancho has reached the Champions League semi-finals with Borussia Dortmund while on loan from Manchester United, and has been much improved as he rekindled his best form while with his old outfit.
Speaking to Footy Accumulators , Sharpe was concerned that his struggles at United might be replicated on another big stage with England.
Sharpe said: “Sancho is another one of these players that on his day I loved watching. His footwork and his control over the ball are absolutely phenomenal.
“The only issue with Sancho is what's going on between his ears and whether he can do it on a big stage with big teams.
“I’m not sure whether Manchester United was a bit too big for him, and if he goes with England to the Euros is it going to be a bit too big an occasion for him? It’s whether you could trust that he would do it on that sort of stage.
“His ability is second to none and he’s as good as anybody out there. It’s just whether he can mentally deal with the situation of the tournament itself."
