Two worlds collided before Al-Nassr’s Riyadh Season Cup clash against Al-Hilal on Thursday, as WWE legend The Undertaker made a surprise appearance in front of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The wrestling great stunned fans and players alike as he appeared before kick-off in his full WWE attire with his theme music blasting out.
As the two teams lined up ahead of kick-off, The Undertaker hoisted up the Riyadh Season Cup - with the replay showing on DAZN.com in the UK, Ireland, Canada and more - with cameras panning over to Ronaldo, who was spotted laughing as he took in the spectacle alongside his teammates.
The WWF have a partnership with Saudi Arabia and will host two live events each year, but the appearance of The Undertaker, who retired in 2020, was a welcome surprise for all in attendance.
Ronaldo’s pre-match joy was short-lived however as a former Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic fired Al-Hilal ahead on 17 minutes before Salem Aldawsari doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark.
Ronaldo and Al-Nassr were unable to find a way back into the game, denying the former Real Madrid and Manchester United man the opportunity to accept the trophy from The Undertaker at full-time.
The presence of Ronaldo and The Undertaker is one in a long line of sporting spectacles in the Kingdom.
Anthony Joshua fights Francis Ngannou on March 8, while PFL vs. Bellator will be live on DAZN.com on February 24, and DAZN will also show the rescheduled Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk bout on May 18.
