Ten man Chelsea frustrate Liverpool in high quality clashDAZN
Chelsea faced a storm against Liverpool after Reece James' sending off but they managed to hold on for a draw.

Chelsea emerged from a hard evening at Anfield with a well-deserved draw after playing more than half the game with ten men. The result means that both sides maintain their unbeaten start to the season but it’ll be Chelsea who’ll be the happier side.

A fast start from both sides saw wonderful moments from Harvey Elliot and Mason Mount, but it was the visitors who took the lead. A near post corner was met by Kai Havertz and the German connected well enough to loop his header into the far corner of Alisson Becker’s goal to give Chelsea the advantage halfway through the first half.

Chelsea appeared to be heading into the break ahead but just before half time, Reece James handled on the line to keep a Liverpool attack out. VAR awarded a penalty and James was dismissed. Mohamed Salah kept his nerve as he equalized from the spot for his 99th Premier League goal.

The second period saw Liverpool bombard Chelsea’s goal with a number of long-range efforts but after weathering the initial storm, the London side coped well in the last 20 minutes. Chelsea were relieved to hear the final whistle but the joy was obvious in the faces of Thomas Tuchel’s men as they know things could've been a lot worse.
