Manchester United's Premier League campaign is up and running.

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes that Jadon Sancho is the creative player Erik ten Hag needs in order to achieve success this season.

United began their 2024/25 Premier League season with a 1-0 win over Fulham on Friday night, but while the Red Devils managed to get the three points, there were frustrations towards the number of chances which the team failed to put away.

One name which was missing from United's squad was Jadon Sancho, whose future at Old Trafford is an uncertain one.

Following a fall-out with Ten Hag last season, Sancho secured a loan deal to Borussia Dortmund where he excelled and helped the German side reach the Champions League final.

However, despite being eager to prove a point at United, it appears that Sancho is not part of Ten Hag's plans and Saha has claimed that the midfielder can still play a vital role in the squad.

"Manchester United have to sign a new attacking midfielder this summer, but Jadon Sancho will feel like a new signing if he stays and can find his form," Saha told TVSporten

"The way he played at Borussia Dortmund shows that he can still do it, he could be the creative player that Erik ten Hag needs.

"United also need people with character, they are missing that. Current players can have that but because the team is unbalanced. Sometimes when things aren’t going their way the current players are comfortable with that situation, they need to be aggressive.

"United need their big characters to outnumber the players that are comfortable with not winning. They have too many players like that."

Sancho will be hoping that he can be a part of Ten Hag's side for United's trip to Brighton and Hove Albion this coming Saturday.
