The French giants move on.

Olympique Lyonnais needed a two-goal victory in Thursday's second leg of their 2021-22 UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-final tie against Juventus to move on.

They did exactly that, claiming a 3-1 victory at Groupama Stadium.

As the winningest side in UWCL history, Lyon are always expected to compete for the title. But a 2-1 loss at Juventus in the first leg put pressure on the French giants to put on a near-perfect performance at home on Thursday, and they proved up to the challenge as goals from Ada Hegerberg, Melvine Malard and Catarina Macario allowed les Fenottes to reverse the deficit.

Lyon looked eager to take control from the outset, but the match truly turned on its head during a three-minute span just after the half-four mark. It was in the 33rd and 35th minute, respectively, when Hegerberg and Malard each found the back of the net, seemingly ending the tie at that early point of the contest.

An overwhelmed Juve side didn't have an answer for the quick flurry, and in the 73rd minute Macario gave Lyon a three-goal lead with a deft turn and shot inside the penalty area.

Appearing to be cruising to the semi-finals, Lyon had to settle for a nervy finish after Andrea Stašková struck in the 84th minute to give Juventus a lifeline. It was too little, too late for the Italians, though, and Lyon move on to face fellow French side PSG in the penultimate round.
