Former Inter Milan, Manchester United and Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince believes that top Premier League sides could be in for Lautaro Martinez this summer.
The Inter forward was linked for a couple of years to Barcelona to be a teammate to his Argentina colleague Lionel Messi, but financial problems and then Messi’s exit meant that no move came to fruition.
Instead he remained at Inter where he won a Serie A title a couple of years back, and reached the Champions League final last season. This seasons his team lead the way in the league once more, and he is on course to score 30 goals in a season for the first time in his career.
Ince, who had a spell at Inter in between his time at Manchester United and then Liverpool, thinks United, Chelsea and Arsenal may all be keen in a few months.
He told Instant Casino: “There’s always been talk about whether Martinez will come to England.
“I think it’s interesting because when you think of the teams that actually need strikers such as Man United, Chelsea, and Arsenal, I’m surprised that none of them have snapped him up already. I think he’s a fantastic player – he’s a goalscorer who scores goals for fun. Maybe he didn’t want to go to the Premier League at the time – I don’t know.
“If you’re one of those two or three clubs that needs goals, he’d be the one you’d be looking at for next year, that’s for sure. I know Inter won’t like me saying that but that’s how clubs think!”
