Manchester City have the opportunity to jump from third place to first in the Premier League when they host Luton Town on Saturday.
City trail Arsenal and Liverpool by a single point, and with those teams not in action until Sunday the Sky Blues could take hold of the top spot — at least temporarily.
Pep Guardiola's side will be heavily favoured to defeat the Hatters, and should that happen they will ascend to the top of the table.
However, Guardiola isn't putting much stock in any advantage his team has by playing first this weekend. For City's manager, the goal is always the same.
“It doesn’t matter [who plays first] - we have to do the same job,” Guardiola said.
“In the title race in the past, we have played first and last - it doesn’t matter, you have to win your game.
“We have to [concentrate on Luton]. The Premier League is so important. We have to be ready. It has been 11 months fighting for the title and we know the position we are in so that we cannot drop points.”
