Have the Red Devils become a laughing stock?

Former Liverpool defender and TV pundit Mark Lawrenson has claimed that Manchester United have become a laughing stock. Lawrenson has also suggested that manager Erik ten Hag should leave if United lose to Wigan Athletic on Monday night.

The Red Devils have endured a difficult season; they are eighth in the Premier League and are out of Europe. Elimination from the FA Cup would ensure another trophyless season for the Old Trafford club.

United lost last Saturday night to Nottingham Forest, and Wigan could spring a surprise and knock them out.

Lawrenson told Paddy Power, "After Manchester United’s lacklustre performance against Nottingham Forest, if they lost to Wigan, Erik ten Hag would have to say, ‘thank you, but no thank you'."

He continued, "That’s the worst result possible for them, no disrespect to Wigan."

Lawrenson also noted Sir Jim Ratcliffe's history at Nice with hirings and firings, saying, "With Sir Jim Ratcliffe, he’s gone through five managers in OGC Nice."

"If Ten Hag loses at Wigan, he has to go – it's become a laughing stock."
