Mark Lawrenson believes Myles Lewis Skelly has done enough to earn a call-up from England manager Thomas Tuchel.
Lewis-Skelly has become an important player for Arsenal this season, filling in at full-back several times as the North London club has experienced a rash of injuries to wide players. The 18-year-old has not looked out of place in the Premier League or Champions League, and retired Liverpool defender Lawrenson feels as though the teenager has already shown that he deserves a shot with the Three Lions.
Speaking to Paddy Power, Lawrenson made the case for the young Arsenal player.
“I can see Myles Lewis-Skelly being called up to Thomas Tuchel’s England squad in March," he said. "Firstly, he’s playing incredibly well, but also because there isn’t anyone else. Luke Shaw is still injured, Ben Chilwell isn’t playing at Chelsea, so I can’t see anyone else better than Lewis-Skelly.
“It doesn’t matter about his age, he’s strong and quick, so get him in the England squad. He might make mistakes, but he looks like he’s going to be a good player for Arsenal.”
