Michael Owen has admitted that he would leave Bukayo Saka out of the England team if it means getting Cole Palmer and Phil Foden into the starting lineup.
The European Championships gets underway next month, and Gareth Southgate has numerous selection headaches in the attacking areas.
Saka has performed well for both Arsenal and England, but the incredible emergence of Cole Palmer at Chelsea means England have plenty of options.
Palmer’s impressive displays have been the only bright spot of Chelsea’s season and Owen, a former England star himself, believes him and Foden have to be amongst the starters.
"It's almost unthinkable that you couldn't have Foden and Palmer in your team, they are two of our best three or four players,” said the former Liverpool man when speaking to Gambling Zone.
“It is a challenge to fit them all in but in my team, you do fit them all in, although Saka would miss out which is not easy to do. But he can still play a big part, but if the final is tomorrow, I put Palmer and Foden in the team."
