The Three Lions have not impressed so far.

Excitement and nerves are building ahead of England's quarter-final clash against Switzerland at Euro 2024.

The two teams will meet in Dusseldorf for a place in the last four, but England are a team which have failed to impress despite their star power.

An underwhelming group stage which saw the Three Lions win just one match was then followed by a last gasp extra time 2-1 victory against Slovakia in the round of 16, and it was a match where England had to come back from 1-0 down.

Now Gareth Southgate's team face a Switzerland side which has impressed so far in Germany and knocked out defending champions Italy.

In the build-up to the match, fans and former players have been calling for Southgate to make changes to the starting eleven, and former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin has named the player who he believes will cause a number of problems for the Swiss.

"Cole Palmer is perfectly capable of destroying defences, the Swiss are good and well organised but Cole can tear apart any defence," Nevin told Genting Casinos

"If it was me picking the team, Cole Palmer would be in the team, then you can look at who is going around him, he is that good already.

"Look at the young players in the Spain team, it doesn’t matter that they don’t have much experience, if you are that good then you play.

"Cole Palmer has dynamism, there has been a lumpen feeling about some of the attacking but Cole is never like that and England fans wouldn’t argue about putting him in the team."
