The former striker names his man to succeed Gareth Southgate.

Paul Dickov may have represented Scotland 10 times during his playing career, but the former striker has had his say on who he thinks should be the next boss of England's national team.

Several names have been linked with succeeding Gareth Southgate, with speculation that Pep Guardiola is the FA's first choice to be the new permanent boss.

In the short-term, Lee Carsley has been placed in interim charge, and speaking exclusively to DAZN thanks to William Hill, Dickov believes he should be given the job on a full-time basis.

He said: "For me it’s Lee Carsley. I know Lee from his City coaching days and he has full respect of the younger players.

"His philosophy will excite England fans, and he likes playing attacking, free-flowing football - as he showed when coaching the England youth teams.

"I think he can do well as his ideas are what England need to get the best out of the current crop of players, plus knowing the youngsters well is excellent and he has had success for England, so no reason he can’t continue this for the main team."
