One forward has been tipped to do well.

Emmanuel Petit has backed under pressure Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson to have a big impact for London side next season.

The Senegalese forward has endured a tough start to life in the English Premier League and his performances in front of goal have brought consistent criticism.

Chelsea’s season has shown glimpses of promise, but their failure to push for a Champions League place has created doubt regarding Mauricio Pochettino’s position as manager.

Petit, a former player at Stamford Bridge, thinks Jackson can excel at the club if the Argentinian remains in charge.

“Individually, several players have improved for Chelsea in recent games and Jackson is one of them,” said Petit when speaking to Grosvenor Sport

“More players need to improve, though, and then he will get even better. I’m confident he will score more goals when they get better collectively and so far, he’s had a good first season.

“If they keep Pochettino he will only get better. I’m confident he can score 30 goals next season.”
