Now Manchester United have confirmed that Erik ten Hag will remain as manager of the club next season, thoughts will turn to their recruitment plans over the summer.
United have already been linked with a number of big names, but Teddy Sheringham believes it's in attack where the focus should be.
The former England man, who won the treble in his time at Old Trafford, told Poker Sites that the club needs to invest in a big name in that area to aid Rasmus Hojlund.
“Manchester United need strikers this summer to provide some competition for Rasmus Hojlund,” he said.
“Victor Osimhen is still at Napoli isn’t he? He can score goals and has a lot about him – I’d be tempted to go for him.
“Manchester United needs to be involved with the top players at all times. When players like Harry Kane and Declan Rice become available – like they did last year – they’ve got to be at least in the conversation.
"They need to get back into the process of attracting the top players, or they won’t become a top team.”
One area Sheringham doesn't think United need to concentrate on is a left-sided centre-half, after reports linking them with a move for Everton's Jarred Branthwaite. The former striker says it's not an important signing given what they already have in the squad.
“To be honest with you, I quite like Lisandro Martinez as a left-sided centre-back, and I don’t think Manchester United need another one,” he added.
“Erik ten Hag already has that balance at the back, so if Martinez plays, then I don’t think they need another left footed defender.
“One’s an Argentinian international who’s won the World Cup, the other is an up-and-coming player who they’ll need to spend a lot of money on. They’re not going to play two centre-halves because that defeats the point of having one of them in there. I don’t think that’s the important signing that needs to be made at the moment.”
