The final matchday of the Champions League's league phase pits PSV against Liverpool in Eindhoven.

The Dutch side enter the day in 19th place and not assured of advancing past the current stage. A win would assure them a spot in at least the knockout round play-offs, if not the round of 16.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's future in the competition is set as the Reds are one of two sides who have already booked passage to the last 16. Liverpool top the league phase standings and would confirm themselves as the top seed in the knockouts with a victory.

PSV vs. Liverpool: What the managers are saying

Peter Bosz, PSV

(via PSV.nl)

"The goal is to make it to the next round. With a point we are sure of the playoff round. The confidence is there, but we are going to play against perhaps the best club in Europe - if not, in the world. I look forward to this kind of match. Überhaupt the UEFA Champions league is wonderful and then also against the leader. We can see if we can keep up at this level."

Arne Slot, Liverpool

(via LiverpoolFC.com)

"It took me a while to understand this new [Champions League] format. I always say when I think I’m 100 per cent sure, I use ‘99.9’ but now I can say I’m 100 per cent sure that it doesn’t matter at all if we end up one or two [in the table] because we will play 14, 15, 16, 17 and then in the end it’s a draw [for] which of the teams we are going to face. So, this is a game for us – because we are now No.1 or No.2, we cannot drop to No.3 – that has no importance of result coming to the league table. But a very wise man once said to me, ‘I have never seen anything good coming from losing a football game’ so we are not going into the game tomorrow trying to lose the game, we will do everything we can to try to win it, of course."

PSV vs. Liverpool: Prediction

With so many variables at play, this match is a tough one to predict. Will Slot start his preferred XI, will he sprinkle in some other players or will he make wholesale changes?

All we can go on is the overall body of work, and that leans heavily in Liverpool's favour. The Reds should be favoured regardless of who starts, but PSV will have more chance against the lesser-used players.

Still, this match is Liverpool's to lose.

Prediction: PSV 1-2 Liverpool
