A summer transfer to Chelsea is getting closer to fruition for Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling, according to multiple reports.

The England international has one more year remaining on his current deal, and Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is said to be a "big fan" of the 27-year-old. Football journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted late Saturday that "Chelsea have explored conditions of the deal" but that other potential transfers could be prioritised.

On Sunday, a report on GianlucaDiMarzio.com stated that the Blues are working on the potential transfer, with a £35 million price tag attached to Sterling. Di Marzio later tweeted that Chelsea are "confident to close" the deal.

PREMIER LEAGUE SUMMER TRANSFERS: DONE DEALS SO FAR

Sterling has been at City since 2015, making over 300 appearances in all competitions. The 2021-22 Premier League season saw Sterling spend the least time on the pitch since his maiden campaign at the Etihad Stadium, although he did score three more league goals (13) than he did in 2020-21 despite playing 410 fewer minutes.

Chelsea's new ownership group, led by American busninessman Todd Boehly, are said to be looking to make a splash ahead of their first season in charge of the club, and bringing London native Sterling back to his home city could be part of that strategy.
