Real Madrid? PSG? or a Jose Mourinho reunion? Where will Cristiano Ronaldo go after Manchester United?

Real Madrid? PSG? or a Jose Mourinho reunion? Where will Cristiano Ronaldo go after Manchester United?Getty

Cristiano Ronaldo has presented new Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag, with his first dilemma by asking to leave the club he loves if an acceptable offer comes in. The Old Trafford legend returned to the club last year after leaving in 2009. Despite being their top scorer last season, the Portuguese forward apparently wants a fresh challenge.

Where could ‘CR7’ go next? The prolific goal scorer has been a remarkable force in England, Spain, and Italy. But are there other leagues that could whet the 37-year-old’s appetite? Here, DAZN looks at a few destinations where Ronaldo could thrive next.

Bayern Munich

The German giants are not messing around this summer, and they’ve already bolstered their attack by signing Liverpool’s Sadio Mane. With Robert Lewandowski insistent that he’s leaving the club, Bayern may want to strengthen further as they look to improve their Champions League chances. Bayern are the current favourites to sign Ronaldo at 2/1 with Skybet.

Chelsea

The second favourites behind Bayern, Chelsea has no issue signing veteran players if it makes sense. The London side has been in turmoil behind the scenes for a number of months, but the signing of Ronaldo would be a major showing of intent from their new owners. Would Ronaldo betray United supporters by signing for their domestic rivals?

Roma

Could a reunion with Jose Mourinho be next for Ronaldo? At Real Madrid, the pair earned plenty of success, but would they be able to repeat that at Roma? Mourinho has made a steady start to life in Italy after winning the Europa Conference League last season. The capture of Ronaldo could be the perfect addition to allow the sleeping giants of Italian football to push on.

PSG

No transfer speculation of a significant player is complete without PSG being in the frame. Could football fans finally see Ronaldo and Lionel Messi on the same team? After being memorable rivals while representing Madrid and Barcelona, respectively. The idea of the pair in the same front three with Neymar would appeal to the owners of PSG.

Real Madrid

After making the heroic return to Manchester United in 2021, would Ronaldo make a second career comeback and ply his trade at the Bernabéu Stadium again? The Spanish giants are riding high following their recent Champions League success, and after strengthening their squad with several quality signings, could Ronaldo complete their summer business?
