Real Madrid will take the expanded FIFA Club World Cup seriously, with Santiago Solari vowing the Spanish giants will be determined to prove they are the best in the world again.
Los Blancos, the competition's most successful side, will be one of almost three-dozen teams who contest the tournament in its new format this summer in the United States.
The expansion of the event to a 32-side competition, held between the off-season of the domestic calendar, has been met with criticism over saturating an already stacked calendar.
But Solari, who won the competition's predecessor the Intercontinetal Cup as a player, and then led Madrid to the 2018 edition as manager, has vowed they will give their all this time.
"Real Madrid always strives for excellence," he said. "It is an attitude, trying to be loyal to our values every day. Effort, solidarity, teamwork, humbleness, resilience.
"Those are our core values and we try to live every day thinking about them, and trying to live our lives that way, play our games the same way. This new format, it is much larger.
"Thirty-two teams are involved. It has evolved, little by little, to become a huge tournament. That's important for us. For Real Madrid, this is going to be an opportunity.
"We will try. We will give our best. We strive for excellence. There is a new version of the trophy. It looks beautiful and we will fight for it and try to win it."
Madrid are five-time winners in the Club World's Cup classic iteration, with only Barcelona, Corinthians and Bayern Munich winning the title more than once.
They have been drawn in Group H, and will face UEFA rivals Red Bull Salzburg, as well as Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal and Liga MX team Pachuca.
