Bacary Sagna says Rúben Amorim should prioritise fixing relationships at Manchester United.
Amorim takes over as Red Devils manager this week after a successful stint at Sporting CP in Portugal, and Sagna believes the 39-year-old should immediately focus repairing the bond between the players and fans, as well as forging a strong relationship with the squad himself.
“Rúben Amorim must find a way to reconnect the players and the fans because it seems like something is broken and that some of the players like Alejandro Garnacho are suffering from it," Sagna said while speaking to Paddy Power. "He didn’t even celebrate his goal against Leicester.
“Amorim needs to bring the happy days back to Manchester United. The team is still fragile, and he needs to bring back the confidence – which was Manchester United’s strength – and that will be challenging for him.
“He’s a great coach and he did a great job with Sporting CP. He’s young and has a great personality so maybe the players might be closer to him because of that.
“He needs to find that link and relationship with the players. The players have the quality, can buy into ideas and adapt to any style of play, but to find the connection between all of them will be the biggest challenge for him.”
