Another Premier League season is nearing completion, and with the finish line in sight many people are choosing their best performers of the campaign that was.
Ricky Hatton is no different, and the ardent football fan shared his thoughts on the season with Lord Ping.
In addition to predicting that his beloved Manchester City will win the league title this month, Hatton also chose a City player as the one who stood out above the rest.
However, the retired boxer differed from Pep Guardiola when choosing the best player of the season. While the City boss declared Phil Foden as the best in the league, Hatton believes it's a more experienced player from the Sky Blues who should take the crown.
"Kevin De Bruyne has had another great season," Hatton said. "Erling Haaland hasn’t been as on the ball this season as he was last season, but to be honest with you, it was always going to be very difficult for him to repeat the season he had last year.
"He was scoring with practically every kick he was taking. It’s always difficult to maintain that level of performance, especially in the Premier League.
"We’re a more balanced team this season. We have quality players in every single department.
"Kevin De Bruyne has been my player of the season because since coming back from his injury, he has looked absolutely brilliant. He’s been in sensational form."
