Romelu Lukaku reportedly set for return to Inter Milan

Romelu Lukaku reportedly set for return to Inter MilanDAZN

Romelu Lukaku is headed back to Inter Milan.

According to multiple reports, the Belgian striker is on the verge of moving back to the San Siro after a year with Chelsea. Lukaku joined the Blues from Inter ahead of last season but scored just eight Premier League goals under Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. The 29-year-old was widely reported to be looking to leave Stamford Bridge. On Tuesday, reports said that Chelsea and Inter had agreed to an €8 million loan deal, with add-ons, pending a medical.

DONE DEALS: Premier League | Serie A | Bundesliga | La Liga

Football journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed further details of the deal, which will see Lukaku earn €8 million through the end of the loan in June 2023. Romano tweeted that Inter will have no obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Lukaku has played for numerous clubs throughout the top European leagues during his career, including Manchester United, Everton, and an earlier spell at Chelsea. However, his most prolific period came between 2019 and 2021 with the Nerazzurri, when he scored 64 goals in 95 games in all competitions and helped Inter win the 2020-21 Serie A title. He told SkySports late last year that he had hoped to return to the club sooner than later, but Inter could only commit to a loan deal rather than a permanent transfer at this time.
