Sergio Aguero named the best players he has played alongside during his career.
Aguero made his name at Atletico Madrid, before coming Manchester City’s best striker for a decade and probably of all time, before moving to Barcelona on a free transfer two years ago.
However, heart problems meant he was forced to retire after just playing four times for the Catalans, and he has been on the sidelines as Xavi Hernandez brought Barcelona back to the top of La Liga, and former team-mate Lionel Messi led Argentina to the World Cup in 2022.
Given his involvement in clubs across Europe and Argentina, and time as an Argentina international, he has a long list of accomplished players he has played with.
Speaking to Stake, he looked back at the best he could name, explaining: “That's a long list, and I don't want to leave anyone out, that wouldn't be fair.
“I've had fantastic team-mates in every team I've played for, and for the national squad too. I'll name a couple who were important to me because of when they came into my life.
“When I started playing for Independiente, I was the youngest in the squad, and Lucas Pusineri, a veteran. He looked out for me on the field and outside of it too. At Atleti, Maxi Rodriguez was a great source of support, as I had joined when I was just 18.
“During my time at City, Pablo Zabaleta played an important role in helping me adapt to England and the Premier League.
“And for the short time I was at Barca, I had a great rapport with Jordi Alba and Busquet. I was lucky enough to play with really cracking players. Leo [Messi], of course. David Silva, Kevin [De Bruyne]... the list is long.”
