The summer signing clocked a blistering pace in January.

Since the start of the 2020-21 season, the Premier League has tracked the top speed recorded by every player in league games.

Some names do not come as a shock, the likes of Kyle Walker, Anthony Gordon and Adama Traore to pick just a few.

But a surprising name has jumped to the top of the list after a lung-busting run against Brentford on January 31.

That name is Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Micky Van de Ven, who clocked in at a rapid 37.38 km/h against the Bees.

That speed is the quickest recorded by the Premier League since 2020, moving him ahead of the 37.31 km/h posted by Manchester City's Walker in May last year.

And Van de Ven is not the only surprise name to be in the top 10 fastest players in the 2023-24 season.

Luton Town winger Chiedozie Ogbene (36.93 km/h) is in second place ahead of Wolves' Pedro Neto (36.86 km/h).

Another summer signing, Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, is in fourth (36.76 km/h) while another surprise name in Burnley defender Dara O'Shea comes in fifth (36.73 km/h)

Newcastle forward Gordon, Amadou Onana, Illia Zabaryni, Luis Diaz and Tahith Chong complete the top 10 list, according to BBC Sport.
