With the group stage now complete, Euro 2024 resumes on Saturday, with the last sixteen teams vying for glory in Germany.
Despite some under-par performances from England, they remain the favourites for the competition, especially after they avoided some of the tournament's big hitters in their half of the draw.
However, speaking on William Hill’s podcast, Up Front with Simon Jordan, former Three Lions star Theo Walcott doesn't believe Gareth Southgate's men will triumph this summer and is sticking to his pre-tournament pick as winners of the Euros.
“I don’t think England will win the Euros,” said Walcott.
“I think it’s really difficult when you come to the home soil of the Germans in particular. I fancied them to win it before a ball was kicked – they haven’t really been tested yet, though. There’s always something you’ve got to be fearful with the Germans, Spain too.
“I’ve enjoyed that Gareth Southgate has managed to reconnect the fans at these big tournaments, although it is slightly turning sour at the moment, but the positives are that he made some changes early on which not many people expected him to do.”
