Tottenham's window of opportunity to qualify for the Champions League next season is closing.

With just six games remaining in the Premier League, Spurs find themselves in sixth place, six points behind the lucrative top four. However, on Thursday the north London side will host the team currently occupying fourth place, Manchester United, in a late-season match-up that takes on a new level of importance for both sides.

The Red Devils and third-place Newcastle United are tied on 59 points and seemingly headed to the 2023-24 Champions League, but a loss to Tottenham on Thursday opens the door for both Spurs and fifth-place Aston Villa to gain crucial ground heading into the final month of play.

And, despite the turmoil that has plagued Spurs this season, United manager Erik ten Hag is not letting his players take the match for granted.

"I have to make sure that our players are ready for [Thursday] and facing a good opponent," he said.

"It's a good team, good players and we are in a certain circumstance and I have to make sure that they have energy and [are] on the front foot to go into battle."
