USA at World Cup 2022: Fixtures, kick-off times, stadiums and where to watchDAZN

A brief dark period for the U.S. men's national team is over as the Americans are back in the World Cup.

The failed qualification campaign for World Cup 2018 sent shockwaves through the program and kick-started a changeover in personnel that likely wouldn't have been so thorough had the States made it to Russia four years ago. Instead, a very young American squad set out to qualify for Qatar 2022 with Gregg Berhalter at the helm and Christian Pulisic as the most visible player.

Aside from a slight stumble or two, the U.S. did exactly what they set out to do and erased the failure of the previous campaign. That the Americans did it with one of the youngest squads in the world should make fans excited for the next decade of the program, as early twentysomethings like Pulisic, Brenden Aaronson, Weston McKennie, Tim Weah, Tyler Adams and teenagers Giovanni Reyna and Yunus Musah form the nucleus of a team that can compete at a high level for several cycles in a row.

What stadiums will USA play in at World Cup 2022?

Each of the USA's three group stage matches will be played at a different venue.

Al-Rayyan Stadium - USA vs. Wales

Officially named the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, the Al-Rayyan Stadium is nicknamed as such due to the city in which it stands.

The 50,000-seat venue is actually the second stadium to be built on the same spot, with its predecessor holding less than half the capacity and standing from 2003-2015.

Home to Al-Rayyan SC and Al Kharaitiyat SC of the Qatar Stars League, the stadium opened in 2020 and has since hosted matches in the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup and the FIFA Arab Cup 2021. More recently, the stadium hosted the two intercontinental play-off matches that determined the final two countries (Australia and Costa Rica) to advance to Qatar 2022.

Including USA vs. Wales, Al-Rayyan Stadium will host seven matches at Qatar 2022.

Al Bayt Stadium - England vs. USA

A 60,000-seat venue in Al Khor, the Al Bayt Stadium features a retractable roof and will be reduced in size by nearly half of its seating capacity after the World Cup.

Completed in November 2021, the stadium was used for the opening ceremony of the FIFA Arab Cup 2021. It also hosted five matches durig that tournament, including the final.

At Qatar 2022, the stadium will host six group stage matches and three knockout games, including a semi-final.

Al Thumama Stadium - Iran vs. United States

The smallest of the venues that the USA will play in during the group stage, the Al Thumama Stadium is probably the most visually unique of the three.

Designed to resemble a traditional taqiyah hat worn by men and boys in the Middle East, the stadium holds 40,000 seats. It officially opened in October 2021, and hosted six FIFA Arab Cup 2021 matches.

Iran vs. USA will be the second-last of six group stage matches held at the venue, with a round of 16 and a quarter-final match also scheduled to be played there.
