Arsenal survived a nervy second half to defeat visiting Leicester City 4-2 on Saturday, with the hosts squandering an early two-goal lead only to restore it in second-half stoppage time.

The Gunners appeared to be cruising with first-half goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard giving them a comfortable cushion at halftime, but the Foxes fought back as James Justin scored twice inside the first 20 minutes of the second half.

That led to a barnstorm finish which saw almost all of the play inside Leicester's half, but the visitors held steadfast until stoppage time when Trossard forced a Wilfred Ndidi own goal before Kai Havertz put the result beyond doubt with a tap-in.

For Martinelli, the result was a fair one given the 36-5 advantage in shots that his team held, along with 75 percent possession throughout the match.

"I'm really happy with the performance, I think we deserved the win," Martinelli said post-match. "We played really well, we suffered a bit.

"We didn't deserve to suffer that much but we won the game and this is the most important thing."

As for getting on the scoresheet, the first-half goal was a long time coming for the Brazilian, who had not found the back of the net in an Arsenal shirt since March.

"It's always nice to score goals and even more for us that plays up front so really happy with the goal and the assist [on Trossard's goal] as well," he said.
