Manchester United are going through a rough patch, with three losses in their last four games across all competitions.

The Red Devils have dropped to sixth in the Premier League standings and have been unceremoniously bounced from the Champions League after finishing last in their group.

United's rollercoaster season comes on the heels of a third place finish in the league in Erik ten Hag's first full season in charge, and the steep drop off from 2022-23 has many questions being asked about the Dutch manager's future at Old Trafford.

Wes Brown, a longtime former defender who was with the Red Devils during their most prolific era from the late 1990s through to 2011, has sympathy for the club's current manager as he has taken on one of the most scrutinised jobs in world football.

"Erik Ten Hag came in and it was always going to be tough," Brown told OLBG. "The players have to get behind him and listen to everything he has to say.

"When the transfer window opens again, the club have to get behind him, and I think they will. I don't think it's ever easy being the manager of Man United."

Brown feels that anyone who steps into the role of manager at Manchester United is going to be under immense pressure, especially given the lack of success in recent years after an extremely fruitful time under former longtime boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

"The expectations are so high with obviously what they've achieved in the past and everybody expects them to be challenging for the league and winning trophies," he said.

Despite the lack of results so far this season, Brown is still backing Ten Hag to turn things around at the club.

"I do like the manager," Brown said. "I do like what he's trying to do and how he's trying to get the players sorted mentally and get them playing.

"Ten Hag seems like the sort of person who's going to stick to his guns and he’s going to try to get everybody on board."
