The new year kicks off with two Premier League matches.
First up in 2023 is Tottenham Hotspur vs. Aston Villa in a match between a home side with European ambitions against a lower-half club. Spurs sit fifth on the table and could overtake Manchester United in fourth place with a victory against visiting Villa, who lost 3-1 to Liverpool on Boxing Day.
The late kick-off sees Nottingham Forest vs. Chelsea at the City Ground. Forest have climbed out of the Premier League basement but still sit 19th on the table. Meanwhile, the Blues ended a three-match league losing streak on Dec. 27 but still find themselves in ninth place after a poor start to the campaign. They'll be hoping that 2023 is much kinder than the end of 2022 was.
